Our experience is that tutoring is most effective on weekends when students are fresh and not tired out by a full day at school. Most students attend for two hours and two subjects, although you are welcome to attend for single subject for one or two hours. Students usually attend at the same time each week though this can be changed at short notice if necessary.
One to one tuition and home visits are arranged on an individual basis.
What happens in a session?
Most of our students attend for two hour in which time we tutor two subjects. This usually means a combination of an hour of either Maths, Science or English. Typically, students are given tasks that identify individual strengths and weaknesses. Then, once concepts are explained, tasks are given to demonstrate and re-enforce understanding. Progress is monitored carefully throughout.
How do I pay?
Payment is made only upon attendance, we do not charge in advance. If your child is unable to attend please inform us but reassured that we do not charge for this. We are happy to accept payment by cheque or cash.

What do students need to bring with them?

We provide most resources that a student requires (pen, paper etc), though bringing their own calculator helps build familiarity with it. A student's pencil case is helpful also (though not necessary). In addition many students bring a bottle of water or juice.

Do you give homework?
Homework is certainly part of our teaching method, although this depends on indivual students and their personal targets. It is often a good way of speeding up improvement but we are mindful of the demands of the school curriculum.

When will I receive feedback?

As your child is always seen by the same tutor, we quickly get to know individuals. This makes students more comfortable and allows us to accurately monitor progress. Tutors are immediately available for brief feedback after a session and more detailed comments can be sought by arranging a lengthier consultation (at no charge).

Does my child have to come to the same session every week?
No. Our tuition is individual, so it does not matter which session your child attends. If you cannot come at your usual time, just ask us about availability at other times.
